Almost 200 people packed the first floor of Husaini Islamic Centre, Peterborough, to attend the first ever Education Information & Guidance Evening on Saturday 4 April. Chaired by Mehdi Shah and administered by Mohamed Siddiq Jaffer, the evening gave an opportunity to parents and their children to hear first hand professional teachers Sister Sharmeen Datoo, Sister Haseena Walji, Rizvan Ali, Zuhair Walji, and Amir Walji, talk about various educational issues.
The presentation gave an insight into how parents could help their children achieve their potential. Maulana Maqbool Hussein Alavi gave an inspirational talk about how he has managed to help his children attain string of A* grades at GCSE and A's at A level.
Maulana Maqbool Hussein Alavi also invited parents to send their their children to the newly formed 'Homework Club'.
The evening ended with parents subscribing their children to a Jamaat subsidised 'Online Revision and Assessment' system', SAM Learning. Parents also had an opportunity to order CGP Study and Revision books at heavily discounted prices.
